Magazine tube detent removal
I've always had them "pressed" out, but on my latest used 870 I just picked up I just drilled them out...everything works fine. Just got my 20" IC rifle sight barrel in from tjsgeneralstore.com and already had a Scattergun Technologies plus 1 extension with spring and follower to install. I've function tested it a good bit and everything works just great so far. I did have to tighten the black synthetic furniture up:-)

Nice. People tend to be apprehensive about drilling into their magazine tubes (though they apparently have less problems with jamming a foreign object in there and pounding on it with a hammer), but this seems to be the simplest and safest method for the average 870 owner to use to remove the indents.
What size drill bit did you use?

I did it in three steps and finished with a 1/4" bit. Started small so the bit wouldn't walk...then worked up the larger bit. Polished the inside of the tube with sandpaper. Worked fine...barrel ring covers the holes.

I did Gypsy's 20 gauge with a 1/4 bit on a press and then gently buffed everything back smooth with a Dremel. It took me longer to set up the jig to hold the weapon before drilling than anything else.
Still have the +5 extension on it. Gypsy won't let me take it off. She likes having 11 rounds in hers.
