Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
In surprised no one has mentioned the Magpul sling mount/barrel clamp. I absolutely love this setup with my SGA Stock, SGA sling mount, and MS3 (multi-mission) sling. Only time I switch it out is if I put on the Hogue "Tamar" Pistol Grip, then It suites me to reinstall the Remington clamp that has the same sling mount that works with my stock Marine Magnum Remington sling.

I'm thinking of getting shorter barrel for my 870 in the winter. 18 or 20 inch and then get a magazine extension too. Seem the options are +2 or +3 if i dont want to go past the barrel? I now have 28" barrel, but it might staying in the closet after i get the shorter one, so no idea getting two extensions, btw how many more i could get with 28" barrel if i dont go past it?
Has anyone found a good household item to flatten the magazine tube dimples? Guess any metal tube or rod would do the job, it would have to be a tight fit i guess? Or does it need to have a pointy end like the brownell's?

Pressing out the dimples by pounding something through the tube isn't a good do-it-at-home method, even if you spring for some high-priced "official" tool. There are some tricks to doing it properly, and if you don't do it right, it's easy to damage your receiver or magazine tube.tnaka wrote:Has anyone found a good household item to flatten the magazine tube dimples? Simply drilling the dimples out is a simpler and more forgiving way to deal with them. Here's a video showing the basics of this method.

Ok, thanks. Will have to try that when i get the extension!
Edit: Just checked out the dent raiser and it costs more than magazine extensions!

Your certainly correct on that. Although it is an armorers tool expected to be used by a gunsmith for numerous jobs, not a do it yourselfer who will use it once.tnaka wrote:Ok, thanks. Will have to try that when i get the extension!

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
I just put on a 10rd Choate extension on my 27" 870. I had to cut off about 9" from the spring for it to get full capacity. Also sanded the follower with some 200 grit sand paper to smooth it up. The clamp seems ok, but have yet to shoot it with it on. I am already looking at getting a rail system to replace it. But its tough finding a rail for a 27" barrel that will go the length of the barrel.
