How do you like the Magpul recoil pad, Rubiconscott? Magpul makes an adapter for that stock that lets you install a Remington SuperCell recoil pad, and most folks seem to prefer that pad after trying it.

rubiconscott his 870p order no.82648 with 18" IC low profile rifle sights is not listed by remingtonle. I assume they have alot of other special order setup they don`t commercially show, like for example the 870p marine magnum with le quality, rifle sights and a older style police syntetic forend.

That`s really interesting and I would like to know what other factory non commercial 870p they stock.

I like it a lot. It has more grip than the remington pad and it looks better. I use the Push Pull method and use the recoil pad to stabilize the shotgun rather than pulling the whole gun into my shoulder. I have a lot more control over the gun and I don't get a sore shoulder!

I came across this interesting specimen on the used gun rack at the Cabelas in my area:

I thought it looked pretty cool, so I figured I'd grab some pictures and share.

It's a mid-1990s ("B" serial number prefix) 870 Special Purpose Magnum with a fairly striking earth-tone tiger-stripe camo pattern on the furniture and all external metalwork. It's running a twin-bead vent-rib barrel threaded for Rem Chokes that I estimate to be 28" (I didn't have a tape on me, so that length is based on counting rib spaces). It was still for sale as of this evening if anyone thinks it's worth a trip to Post Falls, ID.

Sync, I've seen one like that before. Very cool and rare camo, I think.

Yeah, I've seen one other 870 like this in an online auction, though I think that one had a shorter barrel. I don't think pictures quite do it justice though; in person, this camo pattern is a real head-turner. Not sure how effective it would actually be in most outdoor environments, but it looks great.

Had a great time at the range today with my dad. A few months ago I took him shooting for his first time in almost 40 years and he loved it. Awesome to get him out there again on a nice day.

This was my last 50-yard target of the day. One certified bulls-eye, and a couple more good groupings, but overall I'd really love to get a lot more consistency out of it.

Here are some pics of mine in HD mode. It's a standard Remington 870 Express 12 ga. with an old police stock, a Dlask 12.5" barrel, and an S&J front sling mount. I have the original 28" vent rib barrel with Hi-viz comp sight for clay shooting. The final additions will be a home made follower and a S&J detachable shell carrier. I wish I had this at the cottage last summer when a neighbour found bear scat right outside his front door!
