Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Thank you sir, I ordered tonight. This is an addictive habit.
Remington 870 Express - Stock(Tactical Conversion in Progress)
Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
I like the following mag extensions:
- Factory Remington
- Vang
- Wilson Tactical/Scattergun Technologies
Sage Int'l
Order not important, I have used all of these with good success.
Magazine clamps:
- If you run a light on the cheap, use the Elzetta light mount. This does a great job of holding a light you may already have, plus it is light in weight.
- Mesa Tactical, let's you attached an accessory rail on either side, then attach a sling using a push button swivel. Also light and super rugged like the Elzetta.
- Clark Custom - available at Brownells, tough rugged, and is only a barrel and mag clamp that is all. Made from steel, so is a tad heavy. Excellent strength.
- Factory Remington - the best for factory extensions if you are not needing to mount anything other than a sling point.

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
I just ordered a Wilson +2 mag. extension. How hard is it to get rid of the dimples? Would I better off taking it to a gunsmith? I am pretty good at working with my hands, I just don't want to make an irreversible mistake.
Also, I want to get a clamp with this Wilson extension. What clamp would work best with this extension? I really like the Nordic, CDM, and Clark (in that order). In terms of sturdiness and quality, what would you experts suggest I use on my setup?

Dimples removal is very easy, many do it themselves. Several links to help you with this:icer22x wrote:I just ordered a Wilson +2 mag. extension. How hard is it to get rid of the dimples? Alternatively, you can drill them out or use dremel.
CDM clamp is my favorite one, Nordic is a good one too, didn't have experience with Clark clamp.icer22x wrote:Also, I want to get a clamp with this Wilson extension. Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Just wanted to post an update to my mag extension dilemna. I finally got my Nordic parts and they work great. I got the +3 extension, follower, and clamp w/ rail. Not one single problem since it's been installed. I do have a small complaint about the clamp. It is a universal clamp so it's to be expected, but it's not quite a perfect fit around the barrel. You can see about a millimeter of gap on either side. Also the rail that comes with it sticks out a little further than I would like, but that not that big a deal either. Overall, I'm still very happy with the product. Weighs almost nothing and the spring appears to be teflon coated like the follower. I'll be building another Special Purpose 870 21" vent rib with the new Magpul stuff soon and will be getting their +4 extension for that.
