Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Hey fella's! I've been having some trouble with mag extensions on my 870. I've tried a Remington +3 and the clamp pulled the tube towards the barrel and the spring was getting hung, sent it back. Ordered a Scattergun Technology +2 and it was better, but I was still having shells get hung when I got down to the last two. Seems like the spring is getting hung on the seam between extension and regular tube. It will get hung while feeding shells too. I've polished the inside of the tube and its as smooth as glass. It works great without an extension and the old semi-rusty spring though. I bought this gun for home defense, but 5 rounds doesn't inspire much confidence. I'm thinking of trying the Nordic tube, but after 2 tries with the same results,I'm thinking it's probably a waste of time. What could be the cause and is there anything I can do to fix it?

If you break into my house, be quiet, or ill wake up and unload on you.
Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Nordic makes a +7. You would need a 30" barrel to reach to the end of it.
Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Are you using the replacement spring? It sounds like you are using the factory spring and loosing tension when you get to the last rounds.frankhenrylee wrote:Hey fella's! probably a no brainer....but check to see that the extension is fully seated(screwed on to) the mag tube ?frankhenrylee wrote:Hey fella's! I've been having some trouble with mag extensions on my 870. Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Definitely have it screwed on all the way and using the right spring. I drilled out the dimples and I'm 99.9% sure they are nice and smooth. The Scattergun Tech tube came with a new follower and I've cleaned up the stock follower as good as new, even beveled the edges so it wouldn't get hung. Both fall completely free through the tube. The Scattergun can only be put on one way since the tube and nut are one piece. I'm pretty darn sure I got the Remington on as tight as I could though. I'm a little perplexed. I think I'm going to go ahead and try the Nordic tube and follower, just have to wait till they're back in stock. That way I can at least look down in the tube to see whats going on. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Hello all, just bought a new 870 Express two days ago and looking at tube extensions from Nordic. If I want to pair with a 18.5 barrel, do I want the +2 or +3?

You would want the +2 with an 18.5in barrel. I have the 20in and the +3 fit perfectly. You should also purchase the clamp if you can.
Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington
Thanks rhythmgod. Another quick question, what is the benefit of having the clamp rail? Can you mount a tac light there?

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington
Yep, it gives a place for a light/laser/whatever and makes the extension tube more rigid.Mrke1 wrote:Another quick question, what is the benefit of having the clamp rail? Can you mount a tac light there?
