I call Bull Shit on not aiming in home defense situations.

Even leading a bird or clay is still aiming.

If you are looking down the sights and off setting for windage in a rifle/pistol or leading a bird you are still aiming.

Then there is natural aiming. Which by that I mean you aim the gun without actually looking down the sights. I have hit some small targets a few feet away with a rifle doing this. But I would only do this in a HD situation if I had to get a shot off and there was no time to aim down the sights or through the red dot. I think this what Hollywood tries to portray in moves where the hero's natural ability to aim is dead on all the time which we all know is B.S. But it can be used when target is large enough or close enough or in a dire emergency.
