Decoding my shotgun
Re: Decoding my shotgun
Looking at a Trinity Reflex rear sight. Anyone have any experience with them?
Re: Decoding my shotgun
Appears to have a mount height suited for an AR15, which will place it VERY high on an 870. If you throw up your shotgun and mount it to your shoulder properly then you will be looking at the picatinny rail, not the aiming dot. To see the dot you'll need to raise your cheek well above the comb. Once you lose your cheek weld it may be a little tricky to get your head in the right spot to pick up the aiming dot/circle.

Another issue with budget optics like this is battery life. Probably measured in hours. So you need to store it turned off. Other options have battery life measured in years if left on continuously, and can be mounted very low.
I realize it's a lot to lay out but this is a Trijicon RMR on a Scalarworks mount, mocked up on a project gun. As low as it is, it still only permits a proper cheek weld because this 870 has a high-comb trap stock. Would be tolerable for me with a standard stock, I think. Optic has year-long battery life if I leave it on, has auto-adjust for brightness, is made in USA, and a stellar reputation for durability. Install battery, attach, turn it on, leave it on, always ready.

Re: Decoding my shotgun
Also, this will be a turkey gun. My home defense guns are very basic. One has a brass bead, another has tritium factory rifle sights. This isnt because I'm cheap, it's an intentional decision. If I had a bucket of RMR my HD guns would still be without. Maybe someday I'll change my mind but I'm not there yet.
I'm thinking to add a large bright tritium front bead to replace the brass bead, but no rear sight. For me that is close to perfect.

Re: Decoding my shotgun
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Re: Decoding my shotgun
Have you tried scanning the QR code on the receiver ?
Re: Decoding my shotgun
I'm not sure what you mean by scanning the code. Help.
Re: Decoding my shotgun
The QR code is the marking to the left of the serial number.rschara wrote:I'm not sure what you mean by scanning the code. Help.
