I knew the bankruptcy was pending, but I thought it was a Chapter 11 with Remington Outdoors continuing to operate as debtor-in-possession rather than liquidating the business. Accordingly, I placed several parts orders in September. The charges appeared on my credit card. After the liquidation was announced, the charges to my credit card were reversed, none of the orders was filled, Remington's parts website vanished, and when you call the 800 number to check on order status, you get a message that the offices are closed. I imagine the Roundhill Group is busy conducting a parts inventory and calculating how much they can raise the price for spare parts.

I wonder whether Roundhill will to continue to produce the 870. The design is 70 years old and getting pretty long-in-the-tooth. Remington as a company failed to produce any significant designs in more than 50 years. The 870 (1950), 1100 (1963), and the Model 700 rifle (1962) are the only ones I can think of. I exclude Browning's Model 8 rifle from 1906 (although I would love to own one) and the Nylon 66, which was innovative in 1959 but not so much today. Not much design expertise or intellectual property left in the firearms segment of the business. The lapses in quality control that occurred under the Freedom Group drove away many customers, so there is little goodwill left for the brand. I imagine Roundhill will try to license the Remington name and trademark, but its value is questionable.

I have noticed that as of yesterday the Remington.com website no longer lists any firearms or parts either, just ammunition. That is not a good sign unless they are just reorganizing things. I was able to order a 18.5 barrel for my express a few months ago, glad I did while they still had them.

I'll have to look into that too. I know the fire sale broke up the company between ammo to one new owner and firearms to another different owner. Such a shame.

Yes, I spotted that, too. I was looking for a (longer) replacement barrel for my 870 so I could do some skeet shooting. I have the 18.5" and the ranges have a 21" minimum on the skeet course. I had called several times and checked their website regularly, but the barrels were always "out of stock". Anyone know where I might find a store/distributor with one on the shelf? I'm thinking there will never be an "OEM" replacement barrel again. :(

Thanks.

Actually manufacturing SOMETHING would be a good business move for the new owners. But they absolutely MUST get the rollout perfect. All eyes are on the first Roundhill Remingtons.

There's interesting things afoot. I get bombarded (~2x week) with ads from their ammo side that went to Vista outdoors. I also tried again and this time their Country Store was back up and running and I got my 2021 calendar in about a week. Now, to see new Model 7's in some fun calibers..... one can dream.

I have noticed regular posts about ammo on Remigton's Facebook page. They post ads more often than earlier.
