Did I do okay will this 60+ year old 16 gauge 870 Wingmaster , or would it be better back to stock ?

Concur. So would my son. He took his plast-cool Police trade (I got two) and we put it back to original. Sweet 870P.
Mine went to VangComp. His has no more fore-end light, no more plastic stocks, and a BB site. Mine will be a big difference. Anyone need a SureFire integrated fore-end? I upgraded both of them to 10zillions lumens. :-)

I hope you saved all the original parts...it's worth a lot more that way than "pimped-out". Besides, 16 ga. shells aren't as available as 12 ga. or 20 ga. nor in as many different loads.
