I have no ego invested in my gear and I still prefer Remington over Mossberg but they can be sloppy.
OP, have you put a straight edge on the mag tube itself? Perhaps its been bent and you could straightn it out. Is there any stress visible where the magazine meets the reciever?
I might break my 870 down and see how square it is for comparison.

Yes, the mag tube isn't bent. It looks as if it were brazed this way. I thought it was weird which is why I asked to see if anyone had seen this before.
I have contacted the seller who has offered reluctantly to swap it. I would rather have the one with the XS sights and he's out of stock. I guess I'll try Remington after the holidays.

Re: 870 magazine tube is out of alignment.
I've never seen an 870 receiver with such an obviously off-center magazine tube before. I checked my receiver as well, and it was true as far as my eyes could tell.
Though a factory defect or sub-par repair job are possibilities, my major concern is that the tube might have been bent at the joint itself. That would likely weaken that brazed interface, not something you'd want at the center of your build. I would definitely get it replaced, even if you had to wait a bit to get the sights you want.

I would tend to agree.
