Jeff, I was on the shooting range today and took a photo of the Nordic Components clamp:jeffcneal wrote:Vitaly:

There were two shooters from my shooting club and they told me that clamp is really good and they like it. They use Nordic Components clamps on their Benelli shotguns. Also, they use magazine extensions from the Nordic Components.

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
I purchased both the nordic comp +5 extension as well as the barrel clamp. Both are extremely high quality. I have not had experience with other barrel extensions or clamps, but I do know a quality item when I come across one of them. Fit and finish were perfect. I like that it is multiple pieces so you can change length of extension if you wanted to with low cost. The spring provided is very long and has to be cut to size but that is no big deal. It loads and feeds very well. I have not had any problems with it.
The clamp is nice in that it is solid but light. You can attach rails or sling mounts if you like. It is wide so the clamping force is spread out rather than focused. I believe it is the same clamp as used on the Rem 887 nitro mag tactical.
I could not imagine a better system. It costs a little more than some, but it's well worth it in my opinion. I like it so much I have ordered a couple of other items from them. I ordered a mag cap extension. Mostly because I want my mag tube to be flush with my 28" barrel (just for looks - I am anal retentive). Plus, i expect it will allow me to load an additional round (not that it's needed).
I also ordered their follower. I haven't seen Vitali review it yet, but I expect it to be very high quality just like everything else. It is metal and teflon coated.

Nordic magazine extension is the extension I recommend. After trying many of them this was the best one.SoonerV wrote:I purchased both the nordic comp +5 extension as well as the barrel clamp. You have described exactly the same advantages which I see. This extension is light, length can be changed easily, high-quality tube and spring. It is perfect!
By the way, I didn't have a chance to test their follower, please let me know what you think about it?

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
I have now received my follower and cap extension from Nordic Components. It only took a couple of days to get to me.
The NC follower is a gray tube made of thin metal (metal does not need to be thick for good function). It has a couple of horizontal ribs along the side and is very smooth to the touch. I have a pre dimple 870 so that isn't an issue for me. The spring easily slides to the bottom of the follower to where the first coil of spring is encased within. I have not shot my 870 with it yet but I have played with it extensively with my finger (I am sure folks are coming up with their own visuals). Compared to the stock plastic follower that came with my 870 (from the mid 80's), it is night and day. I would say, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being where movement is course and gritty and 10 being where you can't tell there is a follower in there, I would rate the NC follower a 9. I would rate the stock follower a 4. The NC follower is enormously smoother (is that a word?) than the stock follower. Plus it is about an inch long tube so it marries up ever so gently with the sides of the magazine tube where it can never get canted one way or the other. I cannot envision how this follower could ever do anything than function flawlessly. I just really like the design and execution of this follower over the others - that's why I got it. Ideally, I would have preferred it to be a brighter color to aid in visual inspections. I may paint the end of it one day. The gray in the shadow of the receiver really blends in and makes it somewhat difficult to see quickly. There is a small hole in the center of it where you could easily do a finger check.
The extended mag extension cap is just like the original except it is about 1.5 -2" longer. As I hoped, it made the tube length within 1/2" of the barrel length (28" in my case). It does allow another shell in the tube giving me a capacity of 11+1. For those who may balk at such a long tube, I use this shotgun mostly for busting clays, so I like the extra capacity (fewer reloads) and slight addition of weight to aid in swing through.
The Nordic products I have purchased are exceptional quality and I highly recommend them.

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Hey fella's, new member here, but not new to the 870. Pretty cool there's a site dedicated to it.
I recently bought a Remington +3 extension that I had to send back. When I tightened the clamp down it pulled the tube up towards the barrel a little making it crooked and of course I had shells get hung upon loading and unloading.
I'm looking for another extension now and have been looking at the Nordic stuff. The only thing that concerns me is the possibility of denting the aluminium tube. I'm building this particular 870 as a combo Home Defense/Hunting shotgun so it'll suffer some abuse out in the field.
Here's the stats on it so far:
Special Purpose Magnum 3"
21" vent rib with rem-choke
Hogue short stock and fore grip
Meprolight tritium bead
Future plans:
Scattergun Technology +2(steel, has good follower, only offers +1 or +2) or Nordic +4 and Nordic follower
GGAG Side Saddle
CDM clamp with rail and sling swivel
Streamlight Polytac w/GGAG mount
Moly-Resin coating
My questions are:
Is the Nordic tube very durable?
Does anyone have any trouble with reliability with longer extensions?
The scattergun tube is made of steel and has many government contracts, is reliability the reason they only chose to go +2?
Thanks fella's!

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Hey frankhenrylee! Nordic is very good and durable, not sure what you need to do to break it. I have extension which is longer than a barrel, I need to have 8+1 for competition shooting, the end of extension gets burned but other than that everything is good. But I have shorter extension which I have installed on my 870 when I set it up for a home defense. I think that it is better when extension doesn't stick out.frankhenrylee wrote:Hey fella's, new member here, but not new to the 870. Pretty cool there's a site dedicated to it.

Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
Word on the street is Nordic extentions and clamps are kick a$$. Thanks for the info Vitaly . I am in the market to change out my greenish coloured extra heavy S & J three shot. With your words of review i have made up my mind thanks.
Don't buy it if you can't sell it.
Re: Magazine Extensions for Remington 870
I just received my Nordic +2 extension in the mail today. Too bad my 870 is still at the gunsmith after 2 weeks of owning it (getting chamber polished under warranty). Anyway, I also ordered the Nordic magazine follower. I haven't looked, but I'm sure I'll be drilling out the dimples of the stock tube since I bought it new 2 weeks ago. I also bought the extra long end cap to make it flush and add a round to the capacity... Can't wait to try out the mag follower, but does anyone know if you still get an extra round out of it since it's 1" long (as someone else said)? I'm really more worried about it being flush with the barrel, but was really excited about having a 7+1 HD weapon with my 18" barrel and 12" Hogue stock (also on the way )
