I just purchased an old looking wood stock from a guy with the intention of refinishing it . He said it was an older law enforcement stock . I just wanted to make sure that was a good idea . I didn't want to ruin something that was old . Thanks for any help .
Old Police stocks aren't that rare or hard to find. If you want to refinish it, go for it. If you like the way it looks now, leave it. Personally, I prefer a stock with some wear and battle scars, but it's your gun, so do whatever floats your boat.
Thanks for the reply's . It's going on a new 870 . I bought it from a guy who is in law enforcement and said it had been on an older police shotgun . I finally found a vent rib 18.5 barrel . I was going to go all tactical with it but now seeing it with the wood and the vent rib barrel I think I am going to leave it as is .
Looks good as is. I too am a sucker for a well used stock set. Adds character to the firearm. Also I enjoy pondering the history of each nick, scratch, and wear mark.
