870 Magazine Extension

Pulled the extension off my Express Tactical to install the GG&G follower - noticed that the nut on the extension does not engage the detent, there is about a 1/16" gap; went back together the same way. Is this a problem & is there something I should check???????

If I'm understanding you correctly, it seems you removed your extension in one piece, and then attempted to reinstall it the same way. The Remington extensions have a two-piece construction to minimize the transition from the magazine tube to the extension tube. Because of this, when the extension is off the gun, the extension tube can be threaded deep enough into the coupling nut to prevent the coupling from being tightened down on the barrel guide ring.

To properly reinstall a Remington extension, take the extension apart, and install the coupling by itself first, tightening it against the barrel guide ring. Then, insert the magazine spring (and follower if needed), and thread the extension tube into the coupling, taking care not to pinch a spring coil or leave a gap inside the coupling.

OK, that's exactly how I did it.....watched the video, so now I know the right way to do it. Will hopefully get it back together right this AM & I will post back on here.

I am new here, so please bear with me. I have a question, where can I get a 8shot magazine spring? I am only able to find springs with magazine extensions and all I need is a spring. Will an auto parts store have them? or maybe a store like Lowe's or home depot? Thank you.

Go to brownells they have everything. I forget the name of the company that sells just springs,but brownells has them. That is the first place i go for most things. good luck.
