Magpul stock installation

Post by FootSoldier »

I just installed one on my new project gun. The gun is a Police Magnum PD turn-in with synthetic stock. Easy Magpul install, but the gun did not come with a stock bearing plate. The Magpul seems to fit fine, but I want to be sure that the new stock properly bears on the receiver.

Do I need to get a bearing plate installed?

Stock bearing plates are only needed for wood stocks, here's a post with more details. Some really early polymer stocks that were copies of wood stock designs may have used them just as spacers, but polymers have different structural properties and don't need the bearing surface reinforcement. As far as I'm aware, all current non-wood stocks are designed to be installed without bearing plates.
