Haskinator choke tube on Express Tactical
Haskinator choke tube on Express Tactical
( It is the big evil compensator looking thing on the barrel which came with my express tactical) Can I shoot all ammo with this on the gun? I have some rifled slugs designed for smooth bore. it appears that the Haskinator choke dose not change the bore size.Anyone have any advice?

Re: Haskinator choke tube on Express Tactical
The factory tactical chokes have a straight cylinder constriction, and any shells that the gun itself can handle can be fired through it safely. The breaching standoff on the end (it's not a compensator or muzzle brake) has an inside diameter larger than the bore, and no normal payload should be able to spread fast enough to hit the stand-off and cause problems.
These are choke tubes though, and need to be cared for properly.

Re: Haskinator choke tube on Express Tactical
good info. OK no such thing as a stupid question right? I bought Winchester rifled slugs. box said for full bore shotguns.
I removed the Haskinator. and found a SKII choke at the local mom and pop Gun store. the guy said it is ok to shoot these slugs in a skeet choked gun. My impression is that any reduction in the barrel (Choke) will turn out badly if I launch a rifled slug through it. So can I shoot full bore Rifled slugs through an SKII choked gun?

Foster slugs are just big hunks of soft lead, and usually manufactured to pretty haphazard dimensions. You can fire them through most chokes without any problems, the lead will just get swaged down as the slug passes through the hardened steel choke. The "rifling" these slugs usually have helps this happen easier.
You can experience problems if you try to shoot a lot of slugs through very tight chokes that are only meant to be used with shot, but Skeet is a very open constriction, usually just a few thousandths below a straight cylinder bore. You should be good to go.

Read the above posts. Any slugs will work fine through the breacher choke, but you might get better performance with a slightly tighter choke tube. Improved Cylinder is the recommended constriction for the Remington slugs I shoot.
