Do I have a Wingmaster?
Do I have a Wingmaster?
This was my first 870 which I purchased used in 1995. It has a 28" modified barrel with a 3" chamber and has beautiful walnut, but nowhere does it say Wingmaster. Is it a Wingmaster?

Re: Do I have a Wingmaster?
The finish and stock certainly look like a Wingmaster to me. What's the first letter in the serial number? I can't quite make it out, but it would give ma a general idea of when the gun was made, which could help rule out certain non-Wingmaster lines.

Re: Do I have a Wingmaster?
A "W" prefix indicates a manufacture date between 1984 and 1990. There were a handful of special purpose 870 models sold during that period, but even if your gun didn't have the word "Wingmaster" in the model name, it's essentially the same thing. If it was an Express or military 870, it would have had a different finish and lower-end wood.

Thanks for the info Synchronizor. I now recognize you from your videos. I've kept up to date on them for a couple of years now. Good work and keep them coming.
