New Barrel Clamp from Remington, should fit 870

should fit the remington 870...

I'm not positive that would fit an 870. The Versa Max shotgun uses an oversized bore diameter (.735", if I recall correctly), and the magazine tube and barrel bore may be spaced differently as well. Anyone here have access to a Versa Max Tactical and a pair of calipers?

ID is not relevent iin this case...its the OD...

before remington had the tactical versamax, most versamax owners used the Nordic universal 12ga clamp for remington...same clamp for the 870, 11-87, 1100, fitted without problems...

so...a remington versamax clamp should have no problem fitting the 870...OD are almost the same...

I know the outer diameter is the relevant dimension, but that's driven by the inside diameter. The Versa Max models have an oversized bore, and are chambered for high-pressure 3.5" 12ga shells, so there's a decent possibility that Versa Max barrels have a different outer diameter than 870 barrels (and 12ga 870 barrels can vary quite a bit as well, depending on the barrel). And while the Versa Max clamp does look a lot like the NC clamps, there are some differences, and the NC clamps cost a lot more than $15. If you get an NC clamp with a rail and sling swivel (though the sling swivel is different) from their website, you're closing in on $70.

I'm not trying to shoot you down here. If this clamp fits an 870, that's awesome, I may just order one myself. But before I order one or recommend it to others, I need to make sure it's compatible. I haven't been able to find a Versa Max in my area, so I asked if anyone could confirm it with some measurements.
