I've received a lot of requests from viewers to create a video on take-down and reassembly of an 870. This isn’t something I had initially planned to cover; the 870 is a pretty simple design, and basic instructions are readily available. However, the brief written instructions in the owner’s manual leave much to be desired. And while there were a lot of how-to videos and other online resources already out there, many have inaccuracies, lack detail, or are tough to follow; and even the better guides I've come across usually only show the process for one type of 870.

So, since people were asking for it, I decided to create my own how-to video. Not wanting to regurgitate what was already out there, I worked to make mine a more exhaustive disassembly guide that would explain and demonstrate each step in greater detail, and present those steps in an order intended to be as easy, safe, and convenient as possible for new 870 owners. I aimed to cover all standard 870 models and configurations, use accurate part names that would match up with the diagrams and parts lists in the owner's manual and other Remington documentation, point out some common mistakes and hang-ups, and pass along some tips for making the process easier.

The end result was a fairly long video, so I added DVD-style forward and back buttons in the bottom corners that use YouTube's annotation feature to allow viewers to replay previous steps, or skip past steps that they don't need help with or that don't apply to their particular 870 (setting up those annotations was quite a project; if anyone comes across any broken bits, please let me know). I also added a video outline in the description with clickable timecodes for each step.

Hopefully folks will find this helpful, and as always, I'll be happy to answer questions and hear feedback.

I agree, very clear instructions on breaking down an 870.

I'm not new to Remington but I am new around here. Brother I have been part of a lot of instructional presentations regarding firearms over the years. I must say your YouTube of Take-Down and Reassembly is one of the best I've ever seen. Well Done and congrats on an excellent job.

Thank you
