Thanks Synchronizer
No problems ever with extraction. I just went ahead and polished the chamber because I had the Dremel, pads and compound anyways. Good to know about the MIM extractor, I'll probably get a couple of the machined ones and a couple of firing pins just to have around in case I ever need them for this 870 and my other one. I ordered a couple of followers from S&J a few days ago, supposed to be here by next Friday. Got the new type 3 for my stock 870 Express hunting gun, and the type 2 for this Home Defense 870. Never had problems with the Choate follower, but it does have that long tail. I never could get that last shell in the magazine, hope that will change with the new S&J follower.

Never hurts to have spare parts on hand. Regarding the extractors, I would suggest installing each one in your gun to make sure they'll fit and function. Sometimes replacement machined extractors require a little fitting or modding to work properly. It's been discussed in other threads here; I can try to dig up some links if you can't find them.Reaper wrote:Good to know about the MIM extractor, I'll probably get a couple of the machined ones and a couple of firing pins just to have around in case I ever need them for this 870 and my other one.
Luckily, this fitting isn't too involved, and you can pop an 870 extractor in and out in seconds without even taking the gun apart. If your spare extractors do require fitting, it'd be smart to get that done ahead of time, so they'll drop in and be good to go immediately if you ever need them.

Here's my finished (for now at least) upgrades to my Remington 870 Tactical.
It started out basic with the Magpul stock and forend which came with the gun.
These are all the parts:
And the completed picts:
Mesa Tactical shell carrier and Magpul SGA Sling mount (which is made to fit the SGA stock).
The switch for the Surefire light mounted with the Magpul MOE illumination kit.
The Surefire M300A Mini Scout light mounted with the Magpul illumination kit.
Uncle Mike's magazine cap super swivel sling mount. I'm not sure if I'm going to use the single point or two point sling set up - can go either way using the Magpul MS3 sling.

saw this one online when I was searching for part is a marine police magnum
Re: Pictures of your Remington 870 Shotgun
Love the Marine Magnum! IMHO, it would look soooooo much better with the black Magpul furniture though!

Lately, it seems like FDE is trying to be the new black. Kind of the opposite of computers in the 2000s.
