Abbreviations

Post by Pastor Doogie » Sat Nov 09, 2013 3:19 am

I'm new enough I'm still learning some of the acronyms.

HD= Home Defense
EDC= Every Day Carry
SD= Self Defense
TPA= Trigger Plate? Assembly
CCW= Concealed Carry Weapon
IC= Improved Cylinder
FC= Full Choke

Any others you'd add to this list just for Newbies like me?

You'll often see 00 Buckshot abbreviated as 00B.

Good idea for a topic.

TPA is "trigger plate assembly", that's correct

Some others you might see around here:

MIM - Metal Injection Molded/Molding
Mod - Modified choke
IC - Improved Cylinder choke
CYL - Cylinder Bore barrel/choke
RC - Rem Choke
BS - Bead Sight
VT/VR - Vent-Rib
RS - Rifle Sights (open iron sights)
SuperMag - 3.5" 12ga Super Magnum

Also, since our users are from all over the world, you may see metric shell lengths mentioned here.

2.5" - 64/65mm
2.75" - 70mm
3" - 76mm
3.5" - 89mm

Practice by using them in a sentence. For example:
"Realizing I could not use the 00B loaded EDC 870 (with VT/VR, RS and MIM extractor) for SD due to CCW issues, it was moved to a HD role. I'm just not sure which choke to use yet; CYL, IC, or Mod." :P
