Okay i'm mystyfied now. I had heard they werent numbered to the receiver and checked mine. I have at least two early ones that are serial numbered to the rcvr. One in 20g and one in 12. Does anyone else have an early 870's with a serial number on the barrel?

I have two Wingmasters with s/n's on the barrels and the rx's.

I think its cool. Mine dates 1950 and 1952. Reminds of the remington roots before they took interchangability for granted.
