Cleaning/side saddle question

Post by GunnerGSP »

How often do you all clean the trigger group in your 870?

I am thinking of putting a side saddle on mine, and don't like the idea of taking that off each time I want to get to the trigger group for cleaning.

What do those of you with a side saddle typically do?

I rarely clean the trigger group. Every now and again if you notice junk in there looking through the port you can pull it out and clean it. Its not often enough to bother me with the sidesaddle screw situation.

I can't imagine most of us needing to do it more than once a year unless the gun is exposed to a fall into water or some other harsh condition. I'd just spray it down with a little Ballistol, wipe it off and leave it for another year...

I only drop the trigger group if I got the gun wet or if it feels Gritty. Same thing with my Gamemaster.
