2 3/4 to 3"
bought vintage (1974) wingmaster with 28" bbl 2 3/4". question can i install bbl with 3" chamber on this receiver and shoot 3" shells. seems like dumb question but i have never seen it posed?

most likely no. Is it a magnum receiver?

A non-magnum receiver will have a different ejector (and ejector spring, I think) than a magnum one. Pretty much everything else is the same. If you install a barrel with a 3" chamber, you'll be able to chamber and fire 3" shells, but they're not going to eject properly.
A non-magnum receiver can be converted to handle 3" shells by a gunsmith.
