My gunsmith is close to finishing some various projects I had in the works.
One was an older police factory "green" parkerized 20" cylinder bore barrel with rifle sights that was given to me by a buddy. I recently located an excellent condition Express Magnum stamped receiver with a 26" barrel relatively cheap. My gunsmith refinished the 20" barrel to match the matte blue receiver and lengthened the forcing cone. Also threaded it for choke tubes and removed the magazine tube dimples. Installed a sling stud in the buttstock of the factory Express furniture.
Some time ago I saved two Express Magnum stamped receiver 870's from a local pawn shop. One had factory black synthetic furniture and the other standard Express furniture.
The synthetic was a 28" with the other being a 26". I had the synthetic cut to 20" and some change. Forcing cone lengthened and rethreaded for choke tubes. Scattergun Technology Trijicon sights installed...a Wilson +2 extension...jumbo safety...Scattergun green follower and heavy duty spring...had the whole works parkerized.
The other was cut to 18-1/2" and all the above done , but used a +1 Wilson extension and painted the beat up wood furniture with OD green Dura Coat.
Should have them by weeks end:-)

I'll try my hand at posting pics when they're all complete. I know this is a dedicated 870 Forum, but I also have a couple of neat old H&R Topper Model 88's that I use for "stash" guns. They are 12 gauge and have been cut to 20" and forcing cone lengthened...they have been threaded for choke tubes...the front sights are the hook style Ruger .22 auto model and the receiver in front of the hammer has been drilled and tapped for an XS Sight Ghost Ring aperture. The wood buttstock has been milled out and a 6-round side saddle has been modified and placed inside the recess and held there by 4 wood screws. The milled out recess has been R-glass reinforced to prevent splitting. They have also had grind to fit Limb Saver recoil pads installed as well. I have three of these set up the same way and all have been parkerized for durability. I recently bought another and am going to cut it down to 24" for something a little different, but set it up the same way. The auto ejectors prove to make reloading very quick with a liberal amount of practice.

We have an Other Firearms section of the forum. These sound like really neat backup guns. I'd love to see pictures.Bastard File wrote:I know this is a dedicated 870 Forum, but I also have a couple of neat old H&R Topper Model 88's that I use for "stash" guns.
