Recreating a USMC 870 Mk 1
Recreating a USMC 870 Mk 1
Does anybody know where I can find the front sight/brace/bayonet/sling assembley for a USMC 870 mk 1? I don't mind a reproduced piece (if there are any being made anywhere).

Re: Recreating a USMC 870 Mk 1
Something tells me I'm going to have to start applying my fledgling fabrication skills. I've been looking for one of these adapters for the last couple of years, and have thus far come-up short.
I'm thinking that making a template for the part out of poster board, and using it to cut the sheet metal will be the easy part (those adapters are two-piece). I'm not too sure of how to tackle the bending and forming part of the project (not to mention, finding a bayonet lug with a swing swivel to weld onto the adapter).
Wish me luck!

I've been considering the product in your link (should my attempt at fabricating an accurate Mk1 adapter fail). I'm going to use a 20" improved cylinder barrel, and would like the extension to be just short of, or even with the end of the barrel. Do you happen to know the over-all lengths of the +2 and +3 extensions? I'm trying to imbed a picture of the shotgun I'm trying to replicate:badboybeeson wrote:if anyone does manage to find one for sale id buy it, we have a company near me that can do steel stampings and i can machine the bayo lug and mil spec park finish, but i have yet manage to find one forsale

I've been following a similar thread on the AR15 forum - in the retro shotgun section.

Re: Recreating a USMC 870 Mk 1
When i had my 20" barrel installed on my 870 my +3 ext came out dead even to the barrel, i'll be damned if i know the brand though (came with the gun). I know Choate's +2 is just short of the 18" barrel, so id imagine it'd be the same for the +3 ext with a 20" barrel. I know the newer Remington brand +2 and +3 ext's come even with the end of the barrel. I hope that helps.
