Re: Remington Price
That doesn't sound too bad. What model is it? I'd also make sure the barrel threaded for chokes, those 28" VR barrels are amazingly versatile with a selection of different choke tubes. I personally use a 28" barrel with a full choke tube for trap shooting. I have a friend I always meet up with at the gun club, and she uses the same setup.
I wouldn't be shy about checking out used 870s in your area, either. You may be able to find a similar build, but in a higher-end model for less than a brand new gun. 870s are built to last; as long as the previous owner didn't abuse it, buying a used 870 just means someone else has already gotten it all slicked-up and broken-in for you.
Pick up a basic, short barrel for about $100-$150, and you'll have a pretty versatile setup. S&J Hardware is getting in some 18.5" barrels next week, and J.D. has a nice 20" blued police barrel up right now on GunBroker for a good price, if you're willing to jump on it.
If you want to add a magazine extension to one of those guns, you'll have to do a little work in removing the detents from the magazine tube, but there are plenty of people here who can give you advice with that.

Thank you for the information .. and YES, the best case would be finding a Wingmaster in good condition, but if I can't I will be seriously looking at that 28 in. 870 at Big 5 and yes, will confirm it is threaded for a choke .. and OH YES ... will be ordering another barrel for it as well ...
thank you again for the valuable information ...
