Ammo?
Ammo?
Just wondering how everyone is dealing with the 'shortage' from a shotgun point of view. Seems to me a wee bit easier than 9mm, actually with the possible exception of .22 EVERYTHING is easier than 9mm. Good thing I reload, but components are hard to find. I just ordered some Federal 00 from Able Ammo, wanted some 'Flite Control' stuff to round out the stash. I've been looking for some for awhile, saw some, bought it.

I'm not dealing well haha. Basically I've been buying whatever I. Need when I can kind find it. I haven't been shooting it which sucks. I've been looking for more just so i don't pull from my stash to go shoot.

I need to start reloading. I've been thinking about getting the lee bundle thing to start on. I don't really know anything about reloading though and I. Don't want to blow myself up haha

Shotguns are a lot lower pressure then rifles. They are more forgiving in a way. But aslong as you stick to the loads in books your fine.

Thanks for the info. I've been saving brass already for some of my pistols and rifles.

Yeah I live in Wisconsin where hunting is plentiful and rounds even more... except for right now. Normally finding ANYTHING in 12 is super easy but right now I am pretty limited to bird shot rounds. I am able to get 00 buck at most stores including Walmart and Farm and Fleet but it is hit or miss. Slug is pretty easy though. Most stores are only carrying a few boxes of each right now. I do buy what I can when I can (except for bird cuz that stuff is ALWAYS there and always cheap) especially ANY 00 buck or HD shells. I did pick up a couple of boxes of Winchester HD 12 ga shells but they cost me almost $20 per box of 10.

Actually, that lower pressure and the variety of shotshell components makes them less forgiving. While rifle or pistol primers or bullets can often be substituted safely, changing any part of a shotshell can dangerously alter its internal pressures.Kentactic wrote:Shotguns are a lot lower pressure then rifles. Like you said though, the key is to stick to the published recipe exactly.

Well i wouldnt go swapping primers or powders willy nilly on either setups. But 50,000 psi turning into 60,000 psi is a lot worse then 7,000 psi turning into 10,000 psi. But i think we clearly agree theres no reason not to follow the books data. Theres thousands of published loads to work through to meet anyones needs.
