Hmmm I don't know. If the guy says you shouldn't shoot slugs then maybe you shouldn't. Also depends on how much he really knows. LOL

Normally, sawing off a barrel will just leave you with a cylinder bore, no constriction at all. You should have no problem firing any ammo through it, so long as the ammo itself is safe. If you want to be sure, take a pair of calipers, and measure the bore of the barrel at the muzzle. American standard 12ga has a nominal diameter of .729", though barrels can differ slightly.

Really though, most slugs can be fired through lighter chokes without a problem. The so-called "rifling" on Foster and Brenneke slugs reduces the bearing surface, allowing the slug to squeeze through a choke more easily. I've got a Foster slug I cut out of an old Remington shell, and I can drop it right through my modified choke tube. I think modern slugs are a little larger, and it will also vary depending on the brand, so always check the box for manufacturer recommendations. Generally though, you should be fine shooting lead slugs through anything lighter than a modified choke.

I was told to put a dime in the barrel end and if it has a little play its cylander bore. I'm also curious as to what's the best cleaner to use on the wood furniture ? A buddy said simple green , but would t that be too harsh ? Are the bolts able to be polished , or jeweled ? What are the best internal upgrades ? I have a ton of ?'s I know ......LOL

Sort of, depending on what you consider to be "a little play". A U.S. dime is about .7" in diameter. That's about the size of an Improved Modified or Light Full constriction, which I would consider to be on the tight side for slugs. If you happen to have one lying around, the plastic portion of a 16ga shell will fit very nicely in a 12ga cylinder bore, sliding in easily, but with almost no play.

I don't have a specific product to recommend, the only polishing or cleaning my wood stock receives is from being handled. I will say you shouldn't rub gun oil into the wood as some people do. It makes the wood look nice, but can also cause it to swell and not fit right.

You can polish the breech bolt if you want. You could also jewel, paint, or plate it if you want a specific look.

Many people like to put in an aftermarket magazine follower and forged extractor, though looking at your video, your 870 already seems to have the forged extractor. Some folks have preferred weights for the magazine, carrier dog follower, and sear springs, and there are things you can do to improve the feel of the trigger.

If money is no object, the Marine Magnum trigger plate, slide, and breech bolt assemblies with their corrosion-resistant parts are really nice. For upwards of $200 in parts though, it's probably not worth the money for most users.

Nice-looking gun. Except for the optic and brand of the sidesaddle, that's the same build I run for HD.

I even have an M9 bayonet as well. Mine's an Ontario, but yours seems to have a different grip style; my guess would be a LanCay M9, or one of the copies, but it's hard to make out the details on the blade.

Good eye. The M9 is also OKC, but black instead of milspec green. Optic is a cheap BassPro thing.

I really thought she would stay like this, but since then, I've removed most of the hardware.
