What hunting rifle should I get?

I'm looking to get into hunting soon (Whitetail deer mostly) and want to know what you guys think is a good rifle for me at a decent price. I want a .308/7.62x51mm bolt action rifle with a wooden stock. Those are my only rerquirements, basically an old, classic looking hunting rifle, the sterotype. I was looking at possibly a Savage Arms Axis II (likely not), Mossberg Patriot, and a Stevens 334. I was also loving the way the Winchester Model 70 looks and probably feels, but I cannot find a good one that is under $1,400, so that probably isn't going to happen. I've also heard great things about Tikka but I've also read that it is less accurate than the Stevens 334 so I'm not sure about spending double on a gun that is slightly less accurate. Any thoughts, opinons and feedback is greatly appreciated!
