Barrel code on bottom?

Barrel code on bottom?
Just got a fixed choke barrel and the barrel code seems to be on the bottom, not the left hand side. There are no markings at all on the left. Anyone know what's up with that?

It is very likely that the case you are experiencing is completely normal and not a serious error
