New 870 / TAC-14 issues?

I'm looking to purchase a newer 870 / TAC-14 after owing an 870P years ago, but everyone keeps warning me not to buy a new productuion one and a different manufacture instead? What are the issues with newer 870s / TAC-14s to watch out for?

I think you should think twice before buying a new Remington 870 or TAC-14. Many people have complained about the quality and reliability of recent products, so it might be better to look elsewhere.
