Express Barrel / Chokes

Post by TW Fish »

Recently purchased an after market 870 Express 28" Barrel. To my surprise the choke system on this barrel is not Remington Choke or Rem Pro-Bore Choke. Does me no-good bc I only have the Remington Chokes (too many to count). I looked in the Carlson' Choke Catalog and they list a third Remington choke as "Remington Spartan" WTF is this? I'm not buying a set of new chokes. I can see me screwing something up real quick. Does anyone have experience with this Spartan Choke?

I believe the Spartan ones were the imported Baikal guns which had regular Tru-Chokes.

OMG, the Spartan choke system is not compatible with Remington Choke or Rem Pro-Bore Choke systems. They are different designs. I think that let's draw experience for next time. Before purchasing any choke tubes, it's important to verify that they are compatible with your specific barrel and shotgun model.

Totally agree, before buying any product I always ask for help from a consultant
