New guy from Maine

Post by JOG »

Hi guy's
I've been lurking for some time. Lot's of great info. on the 870!
I've enjoyed all the info and comment's!
I have a 90% 1957 870 wingmaster in 16 gauge that I've been enjoying for a while now!
I also have a 1970 1100 in 12 gauge. It's my first semi auto shotgun.
I've had 870's since the late 1980's,it's my favorite shotgun! Like a fool I sold my 1987 express year's ago.
I used it for turkey hunting.I ordered a 870 Police model with rifle sight's and walnut stock.
I'm kind of old school. It will be for home defense. I traded in a Winchester 1300 defender the other day.
It would double feed sometimes. I hope the new 870p will be made like my old 870's were!
I know the police model's have better internals' and a better parkerized finish.
I've had Ithaca, Winchester, H&R's but it seem I always' come back to Remington 870!
I had my eye on a Remington 31TC in my local gun store. It's beautiful just to much money!
Looking forward to reading every thing on this site!
Have a great day!

Welcome aboard! My first shotgun was a 16-ga, but not an 870. An obscure bore these days, sadly, although almost perfect between 12's and 20's. Jump right in and lend us your wisdom and experience.

It's a quiet place, and we religiously trash spam. Which means lots of time for any discussions you care to start or add to. We don't know everything, but we sure can talk a LOT.
