I saw an ancient thread that bemoaned the absence of participation on this forum, but, I'll give it a shot.
I'm setting up a Remington 870 Express for turkey and coyotes. I discarded the 18 inch barrel and replaced it with a Remington barrel with rifle sights.
I also want a picatinny rail on the receiver so I can install a QD Red Dot for low light conditions. Then, in daylight, I pull off the Red Dot and use the rifle sights.
Anybody here do anything similar? Cause, I'm wondering if the rail will obscure the rifle sights.

There is more activity in the playground at Chernobyl than in this place.

Hi, I have added a rail on my Remington 870 Deer and it was working good with rifle sights.

Hello, TeumessianFox
I agree the response time of forum members is a little off. I have recently returned after a long break and find the forum a whole lot less active than before. I can't explain it.
As far as putting a rail on your 870 and answering "can it be used" as you are wondering, it will depend on what rail you decide to install. As Vitaly had already answered, he has a rail on his 870 Deer and he can use his rifle sights.
On my 870 Tactical, I have added a Mesa Tactical side saddle with integrated rail. This is the model that is bolted through both sides of the receiver instead of being bolted on just the left side. The portion of the rail that goes over the top of the receiver is raised so I can look underneath it to get a sight on the front bead. "Poor Man's Ghost Ring" as I call it. Although mine does not have rifle sights as yours does, I feel I might be able to use them if I had them.
Bear with us on the activity on the forum. I think with the administrative functions Vitaly has been performing lately and with a handful of members starting to post again, we may be able to get the information flowing again.
