Slide suddenly binding in one stop I haven’t noticed before.

Post by Okie1297 »

I took apart my 20 gauge 870 express made by the date code around 2014-2018 and I noticed when I would gently rack the shotgun the slide would suddenly stop when the bolt shell extractor got to the end receiver. It feels like it’s binding on something but I can’t find anything I’ve never had this problem I dint know if it’s new or I just never babied it before or what. Any suggestions as to what it may be or caused by? I took it apart cleaned and oiled it and it still feels like it’s binding when you rack it gently. I can post some pics if you would like to see some to help understand what I’m talking about.

Does it do that when you rack the action with authority? Sometimes there can be machine burrs that make it drag/bind if the action is moved too slow. This was never meant to be a silent, quiet system. Maybe rack it with some oooompf ten or 20 times and see if you work those burrs off.

It does fine when it’s pumped with force only when you gently pump it. I was nervous since I’ve never had this problem when you pump it gently before.

So that's the third thread I've seen where you copy/paste somebody else's post in the same thread.

Interesting for someone who has 6 posts. :|

Yea, not sure where this member is headed. Technically... nothing wrong. But wish I had that kind of free time in my day just to duplicate other posts. And it's not like you win a Magic Twinkie after 10 posts or something..... Spammers get killed no matter how many posts they have.

It sounds like your Extractor is causing that problem.

Might have a burr on it or maybe take it out & clean it might be junk in there ?
