Two barrels with a Magnun Receiver

Post by Nevada Max »

Have a 1979 870 Wing Master Magnum Receiver that came with a 30" fix full choke. Years ago I found a multi choke 28 inch Remington 870 barrel for the wing-master. Can I shoot 3 inch shells out of that Magnum receiver?. Thanks in advance

Is there anything eteched on the barrel in this regard? Usually, barrels have a "billboard" announcing which gage and shell length should be used.

You can, but the shells may not chamber properly in a 2-3/4" chambered barrel. The barrel is the driving factor here. However, most recent Remington barrels were made for 3" or 2-3/4" shells. Still, exactly as byxlaw says, it should be on the barrel.
