Wingmaster Barrel Source

Post by Malo1ke »

I own a 1969 Wingmaster 20 gauge. Im looking for 3" chambered barrel. What is the best source for finding barrels for the older Wingmasters?

eBay, GunBroker or one of the other firearms auction sites, or a shotgun-oriented forum like Trapshooters.com or ShotgunWorld.com. They are too numerous to list. Your LGS in backwoods America is a good source too, if you have access to old out-of-the-way small gunshops, or in older villages, hardware stores that had gun counters. I'd think you're gonna have to do some legwork.

Thank you for this info. The biggest concern i have is buying the wrong barrel. I see barrels online but different codes are listed (LW, LT etc) and really dont know what those mean.

There are two sets of codes, on the barrel (https://www.rem870.com/gun-manufacture- ... er-lookup/) and on the receiver. This link can help you. The date code on the barrel is always "suspect" because barrels can be swapped. The receiver date code is more "set", but of course only for the receiver. And the receiver code will tell you if it's a magnum receiver and some other info.

The barrel says 2-3/4". Not sure about the receiver.

2-3/4 barrels will fit 3 inch receivers and 3 inch barrels will fit 2-3/4 receivers. Just don't fire 3 inch shells in 2-3/4 barrels or 2-3/4 receivers. I don’t remember the last time a even fired a 3 inch 12ga shell.

My shoulder says 2-3/4 is enough, even though my 870's and 1100's accept magnum. Ouch.
