To Buy or Not to Buy?

Hi everyone!

I was offered a chance to buy an older 870 12 gauge and would like your advice on whether to pull the plug or not?

It's a 1990 Remington 870 Express Magnum in synthetic furniture, with the metal trigger group and the machined (non-MIM) extractor.
The gun is in great shape and runs well, and I can grab it for $250.00.

However, I was told by some snobs over at ShotgunWorld Forums that I'm basically an idiot for wanting an older Remington Arms gun from when DuPont owned the company which was free of Freedom Group's QC issues.

They all basically said that a brand new 870 from the newly formed RemArms company would be better for $550.00.

I'd like to get the opinion of some real 870 users, I always thought that the older 870s were much better in terms of build quality? Even the older Express guns with their machined extractors and metal trigger groups never had the issues that modern Remington products had. There's a reason 1960s era Wingmasters are still running right?

Yeah real simple.....BUY IT! all of those items that are questionable in terms of quality,....replace em. Oh and nice score!

That's just the thing, I don't think this gun has any parts that are suspect in terms of QC as it's an older 870. Like I said, machined extractor and older style metal trigger group. Should be a reliable shooter!

Buy it.

AFAIK the '90s guns were still good. My mid 90s is, I still haven't replaced the extractor although I plan to.
