870 EXPRESS DALE EARNHARDT JR SHOTGUN HELP!!!!!

Post by jimmy »

I just bought a 870 express magnum Dale Earnhardt jr edition.
I don't see ANY info on these on YouTube or the internet. Can anyone help out
or if you have one fill me in on what's up with the (REP) E on the barrel .
Also the serial number starts with DEJ which I assume is dale Earnhardt jr
but I'm not sure. I don't have the two letter for the date of manufacturing and month
on this barrel just the REP E letters.
also, the choke is stuck in it, any ideas how to remove it?
And lastly...... how do you remove surface rust from the gun???
thanks everyone!!!!!!!
Jim.

Congrats on your purchase. Never seen one of those before except in pics.

For the choke, remove the barrel so you can stand it upright and soak the threads in Kroil, PB Blaster, or some other good penetrating solvent. Get a good choke wrench that affords some leverage. I''ve seen impact tools used to add some vibration as a last resort, but only as a last resort. Don't wrench down on the barrel, and if you're not sure, take it to your LGS to have them remove it.

Surface rust can usually be dealt with by light polishing with oil and 0000 steel wool (lightly!) or do a YouTube search. There are lots of methods.

Still looking for a way to remove the light surface rust. youtube's not really helping.

How light? Got a pic?

And remember, always lube the choke tubes before they go in and after every field use. Somebody probably didn't do that.

First thing to try is use a microfiber cloth and some good gun oil like Remoil or CLP and run down those light rust areas. A coat of oil and the mild abrasiveness of the cloth can usually remove just surface rust,
