miscolored areas on 870 barrel ring

Post by Nicolai »

Hi guys! I just got this Remington 870 non rifled barrel. I noticed theese miscolored areas on the base of the barrel "ring" ( dunno what the ring is called ). Have any of you seen something like this before, or know what it is?

Best regards, Nicolai :)

It is Silver soldier holding the barrel support ring in place. if it bothers you Brownells used to sell and still may have a chemical that will blacken it somewhat. A black sharpie is a temporary fix, but the black ink will wear off over time and with cleanings. No big deal really, most people just live with it.

It is the new normal. 20 years ago that would have never left the factory. With cost cutting and making stuff quicker and cheaper it has become the norm. It will not hurt the functionality or the longevity of the shotgun, just looks bad. Sadly it is part of the new American business model.

That is such a glaring lack of pride. I’m curious to know how they got it so smoothly shaped.

The quality of US made stuff has been going down for years now.
