Help with mystery Wingmaster

Post by Reddcarr »

Greetings all,
I've been researching this question and it's only confusing me more. Hope to get some clarity from the group. I'm looking at an old Wingmaster 12 gauge for a project I'm doing. Serial number is 62991_W. This indicates an early16 gauge receiver according to what I came up with. There are no useable markings on the barrel. The current owner has had it for 20+ years and it is a 12 gauge. Anyone seen this before?

No, but lore says the early models were fairly interchangeable, and as far as I know the 12's and 16's were all the same except for barrel. 16-ga has fallen in- and out-of-favor so many times that shifting to a 12-ga may have made more sense for the previous owner.

I agree. It's easy to switch from one to the other. Unfortunately a 16 gauge marked receiver won't work for the next project.

Why won't it work if you have confirmed it's had 12ga run through it?
