Is "BER" the only thing printed or written on it?

It's made by Beretta (or maybe Briley for Beretta). See this link to a longer extension on Brownell's. Click on the product photo and you'll see the same 3 letter abbreviation. There's no period on the one at Brownell's, which suggests to me that yours is an older model. I don't see any +1 Beretta extenders at Brownell's, but I didn't look around very hard there or anywhere else.

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply, I tried to get this blog to send me an email when there's activity but it is stubborn...
I agree you're on the right track, and at least the mental links give me some background.
Now my specification compulsion is also happy.

When I clicked on that link, and hit 'expand image' the cap did indeed have the period printed on the metal!
I had the 'no swivel' option up, since that's what I have. Beauty.
Thanks for the time and effort on this.
I will explore the connections and add the results to the miscellaneous data in my records.
Then, since it is getting warmer around here, I'll go practice putting that pattern somewhere near the paper thing.
