Discuss all accessories and upgrades available for the Remington 870 shotgun: stocks, forends, barrels, chokes, magazine extensions, followers, safeties, sights etc.
Now I’m on the hunt for a large high visibility sight that I can preferably attach to the rib without mods or glue. But not magnets as I think it could get knocked off to easy on a HD gun.
Ouch! Don't ruin your nice hunting barrel, especially if you are keeping the original wood.
Buy a new 18" cylinder bore barrel (if you can find one) and glue an XS Big Dot Tritium Yellow sight over the front bead.
I think you have picked a terrible time to modify what sounds like an heirloom shotgun. Prices are sky-high for 870 accessories, supplies have mostly dried up, and the 870 is a legacy design that may or may not be manufactured again. The 870 is a 1950 solution for 2021 problems. If you must keep the 870 platform, find a pawn shop beater and modify that.
If I were king, I would issue a royal decree that the Wingmaster remain in the safe and you buy either a Langdon Tactical Beretta 1301 or a Benelli M4 and be done with it.
I can't believe how much Remington related parts are going for on ebay. I saw an 18.5" barrel go for $500. I just sold a 20" barrel for $215 on ebay myself. It's crazy man.
Due to the increased price of ammo, don't expect a warning shot...

Here’s the thing :
1. Any mod put on the Wingmaster can reverted to original by unbolting one and bolting on the other.
2. My Wingmaster’s barrel is not only not original to the gun, it’s a Hastings barrel that (not by me) has been cut already ... not that I’d cut it again.
3. My game plan long term would be to get a cheap 870 and move the mods off the Wingmaster and on to the cheap gun. Then restore the Wingmaster, though I’d need an uncut barrel that would cost more than the gun did at this point. But, long term plan, so who knows.

P.S. for the price of the Langdon or Benelli, I’d buy a Mossberg and make a house payment with the change.
