870 express 16 gauge stock set

will a factory Remi 12 gauge stock set including forend fit a Rem 870 16 gauge express without modifications? thank you

There's a good question. My guess would be "yes", but only a guess. Remington doesn't seem to list a 16ga stock set anywhere I've looked, and I recall the receiver was the same size as the 12ga. Remington also wasn't known for stocking too many sets of things where they could use parts here and there.

But just a guess.

Everything I find notes that the 12/16's were built on one receiver, and thus parts should fit. Some of Remington older parts lists note that some thing (e.g. trigger group pins) are all the same for these two. You could buy a cheap, beater taker-off stock on eBay and test fit.
