Date of manufacture

The letters on the barrel of my 870 Sportsman Field.410 shotgun are illegible, even with magnification. The Serial Number is: RS484** D. When was it manufactured? All I can find are sites that require letters from the barrel.

Even still, those date codes only date the barrel, because barrels are interchangeable and many years fit other years' receivers. If it was normal times, you're best bet is to call Remington customer service with the receiver s/n and they'd tell you. I haven't tried that lately.
