Plano Gun Case problem

Post by gWebber »

Well holy curse words ...

Bought a Plano All Weather Rifle / Shotgun Case a couple weeks ago at Big 5. Today I was rearranging the foam for a better fit and when I pulled out the foam , I discovered the lower back corner has a huge crack and a hole !!!

This thing wasn’t cheap and I’m betting Big 5 isn’t likely to take it back as defective. Really pissed and now in need of some type of shotgun case that’s California compliant.

I'd take it back and ask them to swap it with another. Obviously broken that way if you hadn't used it.

Kinda makes one question the durability of the case.

Well, I’m happy to report that Big 5 was willing to exchange the case or refund my money.

They had another one of the exact same case, so she pulled it down and right off I discovered one of the latches was broken.

I don’t know if Plano had a bad batch or it’s just bad shipping,
But I’ll be ordering a soft case because I can’t trust the Plano cases and the Pelican cases are too pricey for my limited needs.

More than one and I'd assume (cough) that the whole bunch was shipped and loaded/unloaded by somebody who didn't care.

I’m thinking that’s a safe bet. At least I got my refund.

I thought it a bit odd as well, I have a number of their smaller products (tool type boxes and such) and never had any real issues.

Never doubt the abilities of the average "ramp ape". Years ago I bought a Pelican gun case, the huge roll-away kind. First airline trip the ramp apes broke one of the wheels off. I went back and forth with the airlines but since it had made several transfers they were unable to pin any liability. So now I have a very heavy hand-carried Pelican case. The cost to ship it to Pelican for their warranty was going to be almost as much as the case itself. But we all see the YouTube videos of USPS, UPS and FEDEX carriers throwing packages over fences, off the truck, onto hard cement....not a one of them truly gives a darn about customer service.
