20 gauge smooth bore slug barrel.
20 gauge smooth bore slug barrel.
I’m new to shotguns and I’ve been wanting to get a slug barrel for my 20 gauge 870. This is probably a stupid question it I haven’t been able to find a smooth bore 870 20 gauge barrel online. They do make them right. Also would I have to ship the barrel itself to my local FFL dealer or can it be shipped to my house. I know deer season is in less than a month but I’m not worried it would be for next year deer season if I get to go. Thanks in advance and I apologize if it’s a stupid question.

For deer, personally i would get a rifled barrel. Much better accuracy. But if you want to stick with smoothbore, does you 20 gauge use a threaded choke tube or is it fixed? If it uses removable choke tubes, you can just order a cylinder choke tube and you have a smoothbore slug gun.

Ah ok. I’ve thought about getting a rifles barrel and I might. I’ve been looking for new rem chokes but haven’t been able to find any. Thanks.

Just figured your money is better spent on a rifled barrel if your looking for a barrel specifically for slugs. Rifled barrels shoot sabot slugs and are much more accurate. If you just want to run a smoothbore, you'd save cash by just ordering the cylinder choke and your good to go out this season

Do you think a smooth bore slug rifle would be good for plinking with buckshot. My main deer rifle is a .270 and my 20 gauge would just be a backup hunt I have fun with every once in a while. I’d probably go with rifled barrel if I can’t find a rem choke.
