The last post I see in this thread goes back 4 years to 2016, but I don't see any resolution posted. I have the same issue. After removing the forend assembly from the gun, using Kano Kroil and the plastic forend nut wrench Magpul sent, & trying a hairdryer, (all without success) I figure I now have three options:

(1) Give up trying to get it out & buy a 2nd Tube Assembly for my new forend piece for $20 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Remington-870- ... Sw8MpeoLYN (This may be the best option...I'm not planning on getting rid of my old stock either...just trying to make my Wingmaster into a more tactical, home defense gun.)

(2) Don't give up & buy another tool that MAY work for $6 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002T ... 0DER&psc=1)

(3) Take it to a gunsmith for ???? (Does anyone have a clue as to what a gunsmith would charge?)

HELP...suggestions please.

That UTG tool is a lot more robust. Generally these forend nuts get stuck with a bit of corrosion, no lube over years, and just settle in. Sometimes they are as easy as the lid on a jar or peanut butter, others times not so. Things to try: (1) tap on the front end as if you were driving it toward the buttstock, gently, to try to break any corrosion grip; (2) use a heat gun, not just a hair dryer - much better heat; (3) use a Dremel cutoff wheel where there is a visible gap and cut thru just the nut, not the forend tube until you can pry it off or spread it enough to unscrew it. Yea, you'll have to replace it, but then you can chase/clean-up the threads and apply some antiseize when re-assembling the forend with a new nut.

Good suggestions, Scorpion & Banshee...thanks for the response; you've renewed my hope.

I found out that for me to buy the correct fore-end tube assembly plus nut I'm looking at somewhere around $50 (not $20), so I am going to try your suggestions first and then - before cutting the nut with my Dremel - I'll order the wrench...I do like the looks of it.

Life is intruding, so I'll be out of the loop for the next week or so, but I'll let you know what happens.

I recently picked up a police trade-in Wingmaster and have been trying remove this stubborn nut without any luck. I even tried the Brownell tool and it still won't budge. The stock was tough too but I eventually got it with penetrating oil. I tired to apply the oil to the forend nut but I may need to try again. Any other ideas?

Soak the threads in PB Blaster to cut any rust, then apply heat to get the nut to expand and break any remaining contact points.

PB Blast and heat gun did the trick. Thanks Scorpion8 (Let's Go State) and Banshee. Heat gun was also useful removing an old piece of tape stuck to the forend.
