20" barrel is great for HD. most of the newer HD shotguns are 20" you'll never notice the difference.
Probably not, but just want to study on the option Of a 18.5.
My current Hastings barrel has a rib back so changing to a bigger XS sight is a problem as most of the XS 870 sights I’ve seen have a rounded base to sit on the barrel not on a flat rib.

Took a look at the link. Yes, the front sight just body the the rib .... however.. if you read the full description it say “rear sight mounting requires milling”
I’ll pass on that one.

All Wingmasters are not magnums. I have two that are 2-3/4 receivers only. Magnum and non magnum ejection ports are the same length, the only difference is the ejector and the chamber in the barrel
I ran across this In my research and while I can vouch that it 100% accurate, it does make sense

there are front and rear rib mounted sights. I just put up a quick example thinking that you would do a little research. excuse me.

Unless you plan to go the 'diving board" route (I got no idea what to call this contraption) most rear sights will involve "milling" if only for drilled and tapped holes to screw the sight on. I suppose someone makes one to be silver soldered on.

Beyond how poor I think this looks, I question it's stability and structural integrity to mount sights on. I have no first hand knowledge though.
Personally I like Ghost Ring sights.

They are actually very tight, because they afix the entire system via the action pins. I have a different model on my slug gun. Who made this one shown?

While that’s an interesting option, I think (like you) it would be odd looking on a wood furniture Wingmaster (I want to keep it as uncluttered as I can). Ghost Ring sights seem interesting, but my thinking is for short range the big XS Dot Glowing would be quick to pickup and hit with, especially if I don’t happen to have my glasses on and in near dark in a HD situation.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Had to go back and look.
UTG and it's under $40. May not be the same quality as the $100+ Mesa Tactical version.
