Bump In The Night Boomstick
I started with a Gunbroker auction 3" Mag 870 $215.00 shipped. Blew it apart inspected and cleaned all internals. It was actually cleaner then I had expected.
Added a 1100 carrier spring and a Wilson Combat Dome Safety. It already had a real steel extractor so I added a 870 trap gold sear spring.
Stripped the stock and forearm. Light sand and steamed out what dents I could. Stained the furniture with Laurel Mountain Forge American Walnut alcohol based stain. Three coats of Permalyn Gun Stock sealer and then six coats of Permalyn Gunstock finish hand rubbed. Hand rubbed Renaissance Wax for final finish.
Touched up the car rack bruises on the bluing with. Brownell OXPHO-BLUE CREME. Added a set of Trijicon sights.
Fit a Limbsaver grind to fit recoil pad.
Reassembled with the following accessories. Remington +3 tube, upgraded follower. Mesa Tactical Aluminum shell carrier, CDM accessory mount Streamlight TLR-1HL light, and a Viking Tactical sling. Bump in the night boomstick ready for duty.

Real nice job on the shotgun. Be careful with that type of sling, it can get you tangled up in the dark and hurt more than help you.

The CDM mount has a QD socket. I'm going to move the forward sling point to that, then use the buttstock swivel attachment point for the rear sling attachment. I just didn't have the qd at the time I put the boomstick together.Germansheperd wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 12:31 pm Real nice job on the shotgun. Re: Pictures of your Remington 870 Shotgun
Just picked up this 1974 870 Wingmaster with bright nickel plating. I still need to do some more digging on what this puppy looked like coming out of the factory. Haven’t had a chance to get to the range yet but she feels very sturdy and has a tight action. I think the only thing I will change is get a shell pouch/holder for her. Would love any and all feedback! Thanks!
